Moere Numa Ambient Art Project

The Lake Moere Park, designed by Isamu Noguchi, is located in northeast of Sapporo. By the following schedule, we hold an event of a sounds, lights and pictures in a glass pyramid in this park.

There is glass pyramid called "HIDAMARI" in Lake Moere Park, designed by Isamu Noguchi.In this institution of this park, we suggest new art form such as live performances and various work exhibitions by domestic and foreign creators.

In late years the music performances such as DJ or VJ were established as club culture, but they are yet recognized only as a underground subculture. However, the air space which a sound and a picture create includes possibility to change into a delicate and beautiful thing. In this event, let's find possibility of this new art form = ambient (environment) art in new air space of the glass pyramid.

Give technology to possibility of ambient music which Brian Eno proposed, we want various park visitors to feel beauty of the space created music, picture and the architecture.

In late years picture Festival to introduce a world advanced picture to attracts attention, such as sonar (Spani), arselectronica (Austria), RESFEST (USA), onedotzero (UK), and seagraph (USA). Also, the opportunities when many people mention new art increase globally.

However, in present Japan, only art/music producers pay attention to these events, and there is not many opportunity when general people can touch these technology art.

By this event, Lake Moere and City of Sapporo are united with nature, and we appeal for that we have Advanced culture.

"MO'ELEMENT" is an event to be the opportunity.

City of Sapporo decided to have "Sapporo New City Development Project" as a three years city development plan since 2004. "Sapporo, the city of conveys art, culture and sport" is one of fundamental goals of this project, and we have promoted the city plan that makes Sapporo culturally rich and citizens are able to experience, express and convey various art and culture delightfully. "MO'ELEMENT" will be hold in Moerenuma park and I strongly expect that it will be an epochal art event which will realize the aims of the City Development project.

Isamu Noguchi made a master plan of Moerenuma park and the park is Sapporo's pride. I support MO'ELEMENT and I hope that artists from all over the world join this art event and have cultural exchange with citizens and also MO'ELEMENT attracts many tourists and becomes Sappor's major art festival.

A space such as a park is a place aimed for various "play" originally, and Lake Moere park boasts of the splendid landscape that kept green alive.

Contact with nature, contact with a person and contact with art. Having feel such contact through the work which had a theme such as "play" is aimed. Express two themes of"ambient art" and "play" by your sensitivity as a filter.
